Beavers

Who are Beavers

Beavers are young people aged 6 to 8 who:

  • Master new skills and try new things.
  • Have fun and go on adventures.
  • Make friends.
  • They are curious about the world around them.
  • Help others and make a difference on their doorsteps and beyond.

Every week, they gather in groups called Beaver Colonies to hop, skip and jump through many different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to and having lots of fun.

Exploring The Outdoors

Being a Beaver is all about making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are. You’re guaranteed plenty of adventures right on your doorstep, even if climbing Mount Everest isn’t on the immediate horizon. With your Colony, you’ll spend ample time immersed in the great outdoors. Together, you may construct a den, embark on a delightful seaside trip, or even organize a Beaver sleepover beneath the twinkling stars.

Trying New Activities

Going to Beavers is a unique experience that differs greatly from attending school. Instead of relying solely on textbooks, you’ll gain an understanding of the world through exploration, play, and hands-on activities.

The most valuable skills you’ll acquire at Beavers are the ones that empower you to stand confidently on your own. We refer to these as character skills, encompassing qualities like integrity – being honest and acting according to your own principles – and initiative – taking the lead without waiting for instructions. It’s all about embracing new challenges with courage and deriving valuable lessons from them.

Helping Others

Beavers work as a team to help others in their local communities and beyond. Whether they’re changing the whole world or helping a friend leap to try something new on a rainy Tuesday night, they always lend a hand.

How To Join

To begin your journey as a Beaver, the first step is to utilise our finder tool and locate the nearest Lodge. Membership is managed locally, making it convenient to start by contacting a local leader. Doing so lets you inquire about available spaces and gather further information about the group’s meeting times and locations.

Cubs warmly welcomes everyone, and local adjustments can always be made to ensure that everyone can partake in the excitement. If you have any inquiries regarding accessibility, you should talk with your local leader at the earliest opportunity. By openly discussing any additional needs right from the start, parents/carers can collaborate with local leaders to ensure the optimal experience for their young ones.
