Scouts

Who are Scouts?

Scouts are a go-getting group of young people aged 10 ½ to 14 who:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Make new friends
  • Have fun and go on adventures at home and abroad
  • Explore the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference in their communities and beyond

Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Scout Troops to conquer the small task of changing the world.

What Do Scouts Get Up To?

Being a Scout is about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are. Alongside your new friends, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire essential skills that will equip you to navigate life’s challenges. Moreover, you’ll engage in unique experiences unavailable in your usual surroundings, both at home and school. Working closely with dedicated volunteers, you’ll have the support and guidance to accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Scouts start small but think big. They seek out answers to both the significant questions and the seemingly trivial ones that hold importance. Most importantly, they embrace saying “yes” more than saying “no.” Whether it’s embarking on their inaugural camping experience away from home, writing their first line of code, or savouring the last toasted marshmallow, Scouts are open to new opportunities.

They stand up for their beliefs and make a meaningful impact in their immediate surroundings, knowing that their daily actions accumulate to create a difference. In a society that can sometimes feel isolated and self-centred, Scouts actively build connections and dismantle barriers. Throughout history, they have fulfilled various crucial societal roles, and this legacy continues to thrive in the present.

How To Join

To begin your journey as a Scout, the first step is to utilise our finder tool and locate the nearest Group. Membership is managed locally, making it convenient to start by contacting a local leader. Doing so lets you inquire about available spaces and gather further information about the group’s meeting times and locations.

Cubs warmly welcomes everyone, and local adjustments can always be made to ensure that everyone can partake in the excitement. If you have any inquiries regarding accessibility, you should talk with your local leader at the earliest opportunity. By openly discussing any additional needs right from the start, parents/carers can collaborate with local leaders to ensure the optimal experience for their young ones.
