District Scout Band

Fareham District Scout Band is a traditional marching band which is open to Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders that are members of the Scout Association. Membership in the band is open to anyone living in the local area. You do not have to be a member of the two Fareham scouting districts. Unfortunately, due to the size of the instruments and the rules of Scouting, it is not possible to accept Beavers into the band.

The Band was first formed in 1981 after the 1st Catisfield and 1st Titchfield Group bands were closed. We first met at Cams Hill School, where we stayed for a couple of months until one of the members played their instrument on their way home. We were asked to leave! Obviously, our playing skills weren’t too good at this stage.

Thankfully, this led to a great partnership with Prices College which used to exist in Park Lane until its closure in 1986. Although some of the residents initially complained, as standards improved, so did their appreciation. Eventually, they attended our annual inspection allowing us to thank them for putting up with us.

We now meet in the Methodist Church,
Kings Rd, Fareham.
