Develop new skills. Soar to great heights. Being a Cub opens up a whole other world of friends, activities, and skills.
Who are Cubs?
Cubs are young people aged 8 to 10½ who:
- Master new skills and try new things
- Have fun and go on adventures
- Make friends
- Are curious about the world around them
- Help others and make a difference in their own communities and beyond
Every week, they gather in groups called Cub Packs to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything they set their minds to and having lots of fun along the way.
Adventures for Cubs.
Because being a Cub is all about making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are. Race down a river. Tell stories by torchlight. Fall asleep beneath the stars. Alongside your Pack, you’ll spend plenty of time in the great outdoors. Together, you might build a den in your local park, or create an edible raft out of sweets, or go on a moonlit hike through your hometown. And even though you might not be ready to climb Mount Everest just yet, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of adventures on your own doorstep.
Learning New Skills.
Cubs learn by doing, and so will you. It’s all about having the courage to try new things and learn from them. Some of the skills you develop will be practical, like knowing how to cook a delicious meal or give someone first aid. Others will allow you to become a master at your chosen hobby or help you succeed in whatever job you decide to pursue in the future. However, the most important skills you’ll learn at Cubs are the ones that will make you feel confident and content in your own skin. We refer to these as character skills, encompassing traits like integrity – being honest and doing what you believe is right – and initiative – knowing how to take the lead without being prompted. Whatever skills you aspire to acquire, the essence lies in embracing new experiences and deriving knowledge from them.
Helping Others.
Together, Cubs work as a team to make a positive difference in the lives of others. You’ll delve into understanding global issues and discover ways we can collectively contribute to their resolution. Moreover, within your own community, you’ll have the opportunity to create a tangible impact through various activities. These may involve advocating to safeguard your local library, organizing donation drives for a food bank, or actively participating in tree-planting initiatives within a nearby park.
How To Join.
To begin your journey as a Cub, the first step is to utilise our finder tool and locate the nearest Pack. Membership is managed locally, making it convenient to start by reaching out to a local leader. Doing so lets you inquire about available spaces and gather further information about the group’s meeting times and locations.
Cubs warmly welcomes everyone, and local adjustments can always be made to ensure that everyone can partake in the excitement. If you have any inquiries regarding accessibility, you should have a conversation with your local leader at the earliest opportunity. By openly discussing any additional needs right from the start, parents/carers can collaborate with local leaders to ensure the optimal experience for their young ones.
